Emma is 21 months old!

Today Emma is 21 months old! She definitely knows that her name is Emma. She will point to her pictures in the house and say "Emma!". Then she points to herself and says "me!"

She is also speaking in a 2-3 word sentences now. She says "I eat", "Mow eat" (mow is her word for kitty), and "Mama go". She'll grab my hand and say "go,go" when she wants me to follow her. Last week I was heating up dinner while she and Tony sat at the table. She patted my chair and said "Mama come sit." She is saying more and more new words everyday.

Changing by the minute!

Emma is learning so many things and changing so fast! Today she has said several new words but I can only remember the most recent. She pointed to her shirt and said "shirt"! I don't think she has said that before. Then she pointed to her puppy dog toy and said "ruff ruff shirt". I think she was wondering why the puppy didn't have a shirt. She can also say 'eye', 'hair', 'teeth, 'eat' and 'cracker'.

We played outside this morning between rain showers. She was very happy, running around the driveway. She even jumped and got both feet off the ground several times! She always asks me to draw Elmo with the sidewalk chalk. She hands me a piece of chalk and says "Melmo, melmo!". So I draw Elmo and then she chalks all over him.

I've been shopping for Emma this week and found her some great clothes for this fall and next year. Babies R Us is having a good clearance, I've already been twice because they keep adding stuff to the clearance. I found Emma a pair of purple tennis shoes for $2.25, and various other items for great deals. I also found her a few things at a garage sale a week ago. I found her a cute purple and pink skirt and she loves it! She's worn it once and when she had it on, she kept saying "nice" while patting the skirt. So I think she likes it!

Emma can now climb up in the chairs at the kitchen table. She can also climb up on our bed and the couches. This is a slight problem because she likes to jump on the bed and couches, and stand on the chairs. I'm just concerned that she'll fall off and hit her head. When she gets on the bed she loves to pull the light chain and turn it off and on. Sometimes if she needs help getting up on the bed, she will say "hop". I'm not sure if she is trying to say 'help' or 'hop', but it's cute!

She is really doing well at her Kid's Day Out program. She doesn't always want to eat her lunch but her teachers tell me that she has a good time playing, singing, and doing crafts.

Emma rides her giraffe

Emma can get around on her little giraffe pretty well now!

Emma's boo-boo

Sunday one of the cats scratched Emma's hand. She was ok after a
couple of bandaids and lots of kisses.

First day of Kids Day Out

Emma was great when we dropped her off. She was ready to play and
started drumming on a drum.

Mommy!

Today Emma called me "Mommy" for the first time! I have graduated from "Mama" to "Mommy". I'm not sure if this is a total change over, she may still call me "Mama", we'll just have to see.

Here are a few other random things I've wanted to mention lately:

Emma loves tomatoes and has been eating a lot of them lately.

She no longer calls the cats "kitties". She calls them "meows". And lately she has shortened "meows" to "mows" (rhymes with cows).

She has said her name several times this week, and can easily identify the letters "E", "M", and "A".

She has started waking up about an hour earlier than normal, and sleeping less during nap time.

That's all for now!

Swingin' in the rain!

It rained for 3 hours today and we got 2.5 inches! We went out to
swing in the last bit of sprinkles.

Still crosses her ankles!

Tired already!

Not surprising since she woke up at 5:30am!

Open House

Yesterday was Open House for Emma's Kid's Day Out program. I was so happy to confirm that her classroom is the same room that she stays in when we go to church. There are 10 kids in the class, and two teachers. Both teachers are very nice and have lots of experience with kids. The lead teacher taught first grade and kindergarten for many years. Emma was a little apprehensive at first but was soon playing and having fun. Her first day is Monday. This week I need to find a little lunch box for her, and get a few other things ready.

Emma has another tooth! Her lower right canine has finally pushed through the gum, I discovered it yesterday morning. The left side is getting close too.

This past weekend I was playing with Emma, and asking her "where's Emma?" She responded by pointing to herself and saying "me"! So she knows that she is Emma!

Not much to report now. Emma is just having fun everyday, dancing, playing with her babies, and reading books!

Emma is 20 months old!

On Friday Emma turned 20 months old. She’s still growing so fast, and learning new words every day. She can now say bowl, cup, apple, up, down, butterfly and Pooh. There are probably more but I can’t remember them all! She just learned up and down this weekend, and she will go around lifting up a book or her baby, saying “up”, then lower it and say “down”. Daddy taught her this and they had a fun time holding things up and then down. She also lifts up her foot and holds it up, waiting for us to say down, then she stomps her foot down.

She also learned to blow her nose! This is helpful when she has her allergies, like she does now. I can actually hold the tissue and tell her to blow, and she does. It’s much easier than me chasing her with the tissue.

Today I took Emma to get her flu shot, and they weighed her. She is 28.2 pounds! We didn't get a height but I believe she has grown another inch since her 18 month checkup.
