Nathan is 5 months old!
This month I'm going to do this update a little differently and write it as a letter to Nathan.
Dear Nathan,
Today you are five months old! It has gone by so fast! You are really laughing, smiling, and engaging with us now. You love to watch Emma sing, dance, play or whatever she may be doing at any time. You can lift your head and chest up off the floor, and roll over from tummy to back. You've actually rolled from back to tummy a couple of times but it's not on purpose. You are starting to grasp toys more easily and hold them for a few seconds. You love to chew or suck on anything you can get into your mouth. A few days ago you grabbed one of your feet but you didn't really know what it was!
You are still taking medication for your acid reflux and it has really helped with the pain you were having. You still seem to be experiencing some stomach cramps and we may be taking you back to the doctor for that soon.
You usually take about 3 naps a day, but they are way too short! You also refuse to go to sleep at bedtime unless I'm holding you or laying next to you at night. We need to work on helping you sleep better but I'm not sure how to do that without just leaving you in your bed to scream at night. I am hoping as you get a little older you will start going to sleep better.
You have just discovered your tongue and you love to stick it out and also suck on it! You have such a cute little tongue! You can also blow bubbles with your lips and you are able to sit up for a few seconds at a time without assistance. With help you can sit up for several minutes.
You are such a sweet baby, and you love to look at your surrounding and just soak it all in. I can tell you are studying your environment and learning all you can. Your big sister loves you so much and can't wait for you to grow up a little and play with her!
We all love you so much, we are so thankful you are in our family!
love,
Mommy

Nathan's 4 month well check
Yesterday was Nathan's 4 month well check. He weighs 17 pounds, 9 ounces (90th percentile), is 24 inches long (10th percentile) and his head circumference is 42 cm (25th percentile). He's still on Prilosec for acid reflux but it's working well and he is doing great!
He needs more time on the floor to get better at rolling over, so we are trying that. He also loves to be in the exersaucer. We are also letting him practice sitting up with some support. He loves to watch Emma and he's starting to coo and talk to us more.

Frosty and Emma, 2011
We spent a little time outside this morning with the neighbors. We helped to build a snowman with Becca, Emily and Lauren. It was fun but cold, so we didn't stay out too long!
