Emma is 15 months old!

Saturday Emma turned 15 months old! This past month has been a very busy one. Emma experienced quite a few firsts too! She had her first pictures in the bluebonnets and Indian paint brush, which you can see below. A couple of weeks ago she had her first big fall. We were outside in the backyard and she was climbing up and down the three steps from the porch to the ground. I thought she was doing well and could handle it, so of course the second I walk two feet away she took a tumble, hitting her head on the metal handrail. Luckily she didn’t hit the concrete or bust her teeth or lip, but she immediately grew the largest bump on her forehead I’ve ever seen. It grew so fast, right before my eyes, like a horn was growing out of her head! She was just fine after a few minutes, but I called the doctor and was watching her very closely the rest of the day. I also took her over next door so that Janna could see it. Having two girls 10 months older than Emma, I knew Janna was experienced with such things and she helped me to feel better about it!

She also played her first round of “Ring around the Rosie” with the girls next door, Emily and Lauren. Emma loved the singing and did very well holding hands with the girls. She didn’t really get walking in a circle, so the mommies also participated to keep the circle moving. And just last week Emma got to hear the Oakridge Boys for the first time, when “Elvira” came on the radio in the car! I was sure to belt that song out at the top of my lungs, which Emma enjoyed.

Today was Emma’s 15 month check-up. She is now 32 inches tall (95% percentile) and weighs 25 pounds (75% percentile). She also has a new tooth, which I noticed yesterday. It’s one of her top molars on the left. (It must be the reason why Sunday night she woke up no less than 6 times, crying each time). This brings her total of teeth to 5! She also got two vaccination shots, and her leg is sore and bit swollen tonight.

Emma has also learned that cats say “meow”, ducks “quack”, and sheep go “baaa”! She’s also been able to say “ruff, ruff” for a while too. She has learned the sign for “more” and now uses it for things other than more food. She does it all day, when she wants to read a book again, sign a song again, etc. She really loves Sesame Street and recognizes the characters when she sees them in other places, like at the grocery store, in books, etc.

She is growing so fast, and keeps us very busy! She is a blessing and we love her so much!
