Emma Sees Santa

Today Emma saw Santa for the first time at the Barton Creek mall. We got there pretty early, and only had to wait in line for about half an hour. A little girl thought Emma was really cute and waved to her, and the woman behind us (whose son was two) regaled us with sordid tales of having to work at a car manufacturing plant for 7 years before being laid off, and how that prepared her for raising a boy because they said raunchy things all the time, so now she knows how men think. So apparently standing in line hasn't changed much since the cafeteria in grade school.

Emma was unsure at first about Santa, and for a couple seconds was ready to flee the scene of the crime, but once she looked at Mommy and Daddy smiling at her from the side she just turned back and studied Santa's face and beard intently, then would turn and smile to Mommy and Daddy as they exclaimed, "See, it's Santa Claus!"

Emma ended up doing great, asking for a giant boob of unending milk, a cat with no legs so it can't flee when she tries to pet/skin it, and to never have to wear socks again. Ever. Oh, and Santa told me afterwards she whispered for an official Red Ryder carbine action two-hundred shot range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time.

Mommy said she'll shoot her eye out. We're all going to have to talk about that.
